The Opening 2026
On the occasion of Veterinexpo’s opening ceremony, we will be addressing a highly topical issue: “Emerging diseases: veterinary expertise at the heart of prevention and public health response strategies.”
In recent years, the emergence and spread of new pathogens, together with the re-emergence of previously known diseases, have highlighted the complexity and constantly evolving nature of animal and public health challenges.
Driven by international trade, environmental and climate change, and the increasingly close interface between wildlife, domestic animals and human populations, these threats require continuous vigilance and strengthened surveillance systems.
In this context, veterinarians play a key role in the One Health approach, integrating animal, human and environmental health while contributing to early detection, surveillance and the management of health crises.
