Veterinexpo and its 46 years of experience!

The Vétérinexpo trade fair and its history over time

The Vétérinexpo trade fair offers an exceptional opportunity for both exhibitors and visitors to connect with key players in the veterinary world. Since its very first edition in 1981, this fair has provided a platform to showcase new products and materials and to establish or maintain important contacts.

History of the trade show:

The show began in the cellars of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Cureghem before moving to the Jolibois hall in Woluwé St Pierre and then to Autoworld at the Cinquantenaire in Brussels.

In the early 1990s, the trade fair was held at the Brussels Exhibition Park before the faculty moved to Liège. Vétérinexpo was then organized for a few years in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

In 2001, as the available space at the faculty became insufficient, we decided to move the exhibition to the Wex in Marche-en-Famenne. The exhibition remained there until 2012, when it moved to Ciney Expo, which, after an edition in Libramont in 2016, became our historic venue and remains so to this day.

Vétérinexpo has had some challenges, after a particular year 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic, we saw the first digital edition of Vétérinexpo 100% appear with conferences and an online catalogue bringing together all the partner firms.
Vétérinexpo 2021 also suffered from the wave of this epidemic, forcing the show to be postponed to April 2022.

In December 2022, Vétérinexpo took the form of a Congress at the Amphitheaters of Europe at the University of Liège, with the aim of offering a multitude of training courses and conferences to veterinarians.

This year, as with the 2026 edition, the 46th edition will return to CineyExpo on November 21st & 22nd, where we eagerly await you!

  • 2021

Due to the health situation, the 41st edition of Vétérinexpo, which was to take place on December 2nd and 3rd, 2021, had to be postponed to April 2022.
A special date, an exceptional edition aimed at looking back on the last 40 editions and the evolution of Vétérinexpo from the Cafeteria parking lot in Cureghem to Ciney Expo and its 6000 m2 of exhibition space.
101 firms were present for this anniversary edition, allowing the long-awaited return of our trade show to in-person events.

  • 2020

Due to the health situation caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, the 40th edition of Vétérinexpo could not be held in person. A fully digital edition was organized, featuring online conferences for veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and students. A completely digital catalog with partner companies was also created to maintain contact between companies and animal health professionals.

  • 2017

Veterinexpo 2017 returned to Ciney Expo during the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd. The trade show featured 75 companies spread across the 4,000 m² of exhibition space. This year, we recorded 1,800 visitors (601 small animal veterinarians and 401 rural and equine veterinarians) and benefited from the support of over 200 student volunteers. New features this year included the success of the suggested itinerary and training courses for veterinary assistants. Furthermore, as in previous years, certified training courses were offered through our partner Formavet asbl, and numerous demonstrations and conferences took place within the exhibition hall itself in the Demo area. The Gala's image was also enhanced by strong participation from both veterinarians and exhibitors, all within a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you again for your visit, and we look forward to seeing you at the next edition.

  • 2015

The 2015 edition welcomed over 2,700 unique visitors over the weekend, with peak attendance on Saturday despite the inclement weather and some tragic circumstances. This year, a major new feature was introduced: accredited conferences, transforming our event into a true congress. As with any significant change, the concept takes time to become established, and we will certainly repeat the experience at the 2016 edition! Finally, the entire organizing committee would like to sincerely thank its volunteers (over 350!) who make it possible each year to hold the event, help it grow, and, we hope, improve it for all our visitors. Thank you for your visit.

  • 2012

Veterinexpo 2012 was marked by a change of venue. It took place at CineyExpo on November 23, 24, and 25. 78 companies were represented at this edition, occupying approximately 5,000 square meters, a significantly larger area than in previous years. As every year, the show welcomed numerous visitors (3,000), half of whom were veterinarians. Training sessions were organized thanks to our partners, NeoAnimalia and Formavet. New for 2012, practical demonstrations of new equipment (such as ultrasound scanners) were held within the exhibition space itself. The gala, as always, took place in a festive atmosphere and was a great success. We would like to thank all our volunteers who were present, as they are every year, and without whom the show could not exist.

  • 2010

Veterinexpo 2010 took place on November 21, 22, and 23 at the Wex in Marche-en-Famenne. This year, the trade fair hosted 77 companies in a single 3,600 m² hall, as in the previous year. The number of visitors reached 2,800, including 1,550 veterinarians. The fair's opening took the form of a debate on rural veterinarians and their future, attended by Ministers Lutgen and Laruelle. NeoAnimalia and Formavet offered no fewer than six training sessions this year. They covered diverse topics such as cesarean sections in cattle, dentistry for exotic pets, equine medical imaging, drug residues, and the quality of life of veterinarians, meeting the organizers' objectives and being very well received by the participants. Yaboumba also participated with a theoretical training session on exotic pet medicine. A comprehensive symposium on livestock diseases was held on Sunday. Finally, the traditional and now renowned Saturday evening Gala (Wex Club) lived up to all expectations with its friendly atmosphere and high quality. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine had an even stronger presence this year than in previous years, sharing a stand with SGEMV at the entrance to the exhibition hall. Furthermore, a detail often overlooked: the active participation of over 100 students throughout the three days of the show ensured excellent bar and restaurant service, much to the satisfaction of visitors and exhibitors alike.

  • 2009

Veterinexpo 2009 took place over the weekend of November 20th, 21st, and 22nd. The trade show hosted 70 exhibitors across 3,600 square meters. No fewer than 2,900 visitors, including 1,500 veterinarians, attended. For this edition, the organizers deliberately chose to reduce the exhibition space to a single hall. A more welcoming atmosphere and improved visitor flow were indeed important to us. Veterinexpo 2009 also featured a lively debate on its opening Friday. Political figures, representatives of the veterinary profession, professors, and practitioners shared their vision for training future generations. The ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the booths by Minister Marcourt concluded the opening event. The organization of training sessions and practical workshops for practitioners was a major new feature of this edition. Two key players in veterinary education in Belgium partnered with us for this event (Formavet and Neo Animalia). Nearly 150 veterinarians attended the training sessions during their visit to the trade fair.

  • 2008

Veterinexpo 2008 took place over the weekend of November 21st, 22nd and 23rd. The show hosted 85 exhibitors in an area of nearly 6000m² and was visited by more than 2600 visitors, including veterinary practitioners and students.

  • 2022

Veterinexpo 2022 took place on November 26 and 27 at the University of Liège in the Amphitheaters of Europe.

With a view to returning to the basics of the trade fair, after having gone through the COVID-19 crisis, Vétérinexpo was transformed into a Congress for a weekend.

  • 2023

The 43rd edition of Veterinexpo took place on October 21 and 22, 2023 at CineyExpo under the theme "Different Expectations of Recruiters and Recruits." The trade fair was a resounding success, welcoming no fewer than 90 companies and 1,800 visitors.
The show was, as always, punctuated by various conferences given by renowned veterinarians, as well as round tables and practical work offered to veterinary medicine students.

In addition, accredited training courses, supervised by Formavet, were given starting on Friday, October 20th.

We thank all our partners and volunteers for their trust and investment without which this event would undoubtedly not have the same energy.
